Lines, ways and touching groups

Glossy reel drums with gems, fruit and planets

Every reel game shows a grid of symbols and then decides whether that grid scores. The grids look alike, but Reel Reach reads them in three different ways. This page walks through each one with the game that uses it.

Fixed lines

A line is a set path across the reels, one cell per reel. Seven Volt has five lines on a three-by-three grid; Crystal Summit has ten on five-by-three. A line scores when the same symbol sits on it from the leftmost reel onwards, three or more in a row. Your stake is split across the lines, so the score table counts in line stakes: one tenth of your stake on Crystal Summit, one fifth on Seven Volt.

Wilds stand in for any normal symbol on a line. In Seven Volt the lightning bolt also doubles the line it completes, so a single bolt can turn a small line into a good one.

Ways

Mango Monsoon drops lines altogether. A symbol scores when it appears anywhere on reel one, anywhere on reel two and anywhere on reel three, and further if it carries on. With four rows on five reels there are 1,024 routes through the grid. Two mangoes on reel one and one each on reels two and three make two ways, so the score doubles. Ways games return something on most spins, usually less than the stake, which is why each way counts as only a fiftieth of it.

Touching groups

Comet Quarry ignores rows and reels. Five or more identical symbols that touch side by side or above and below form a group, and the bigger the group the more it scores. Diagonals never join a group. Scored groups clear, the columns drop, fresh symbols fall in from the top and the field is checked again, so a single spin can score several times in a row.

Bonus symbols

The sun in Crystal Summit, the storm cloud in Mango Monsoon and the galaxy in Comet Quarry count wherever they land. Enough of them start bonus spins at your current stake, and bonus spins never take points. Mango Monsoon scores every bonus spin double; Comet Quarry raises the multiplier with each refill inside a bonus spin.

What a score table can and cannot tell you

Each table says at the top what its numbers multiply: a line stake, a fiftieth of the stake per way, or the whole stake. Multiply by your stake and you have the points a result returns. No table predicts the next spin: every spin is independent, a long dry run does not make a bonus more likely, and over thousands of spins every reel game here gives back a little less than it takes. That is exactly why points have no value and reset for free.
